Quectel CC660D-LS Satellite NTN Network
The Quectel CC660D-LS series supports IoT-NTN (satellite), It complies with 3GPP Release 17 standards, ensuring optimal performance for advanced IoT applications

Prerequisites
Monogoto SIM
Set up EVB Kit

Set up the EVB Kit
Connect the LTE antenna and GPS antenna
Insert the Monogoto SIM
Connect your PC to the EVB Kit
Use the USB to UART converter cable to connect your computer to the COM1 MAIN port of the EVB Kit
Connect to the EVB kit using a terminal program. You can use PuTTY for Windows, or Screen, minicom, or miniterm for Mac or Linux.
Once the modem has started, it will report:
RDY
APP RDYEnter AT, if the connection with the CC660D-LS modem has been established, the board will answer with OK.
Connect the CC660D-LS to Monogoto
Reset the modem to its default configuration:
Restore factory settings:
AT&F1Set the error reporting to verbose, resulting in more descriptive error messages (optional):
AT+CEREG=2Check the status of the SIM card. The correct response should be: +CPIN: READY
AT+CPIN?If you receive an error, the SIM may not be inserted properly or the SIM is protected with a PIN. By default, Monogoto SIMs are not PIN protected.
Query device information
Request the product type, hardware, and firmware version:
ATIExample response: Quectel_Ltd Quectel_CC660D-LS Revision: CC660DLSAAR01A01
Request the IMSI (International Mobile Subscriber Identity):
AT+CIMIRequest the ICCID (Integrated Circuit Card ID), which is the identification number of the SIM card
AT%CCIDNetwork Configuration
It is possible to let the modem select the network automatically.
Set the APN to data.mono:
AT+QCGDEFCONT="IP","data.mono"Lock the modem to a specific region/band
AT+QBAND=1,23Send registration status
AT+CEREG=2Set GPS location
AT+QGNSSINFO=LATITUDE,LONGITUDE,ALTITUDE,SPEED,ACCURACYCheck the current network registration status
AT+QENG=0Check the radio signal strength and signal quality:
AT+CSQValidate if your device received an IP address:
AT+CGPADDRExpected response: +CGPADDR: 1,XX.XXX.XX.XXX
Do you see an IP address? Congratulations! You’ve successfully connected the Quectel modem to Monogoto 🎉
Test the connection by sending UDP payload
When using Non-Terrestrial Networks, data can only be sent using UDP.
In order to send data using UDP, 3 AT Commands needs to be sent:
Create UDP socket
Send UDP data
Close UDP Socket
1. Create UDP socket
AT+QIOPEN=1,0,"UDP","18.199.15.247",1055,1234,0Example response:
+QIOPEN:0,0
AT+QISEND=0,2,12
2. Send UDP data
AT+QISEND=0,11,Hello WorldExample response:
OK
SEND OK
Make sure to exactly count the number of characters you send, or you will receive an error.
3. Close UDP socket
End your UDP session by closing the UDP socket.
AT+QICLOSE=0Expected response: OK
