## eSIM activation

Make sure that your device supports eSIM functionality, since not all devices have support for eSIMs.

Before trying to activate eSIM check if your device does not have a carrier lock.

The below-provided examples for eSIM activation are general, so make sure to check your device manual, in order to get the exact instructions.

#### Required Device Settings After eSIM Activation <a href="#docs-internal-guid-e83b45e2-7fff-93d0-7d8a-a869b108bc6d" id="docs-internal-guid-e83b45e2-7fff-93d0-7d8a-a869b108bc6d"></a>

Set the device APN to your designated Monogoto APN:

You can always verify the default APN which is configured in the [Things group](https://docs.monogoto.io/advanced-console/things-groups), to make sure you configure the correct APN in the device.

### Scanning QR code to activate eSIM

1. Go to your device settings.
2. Search for something like **SIM settings** or **Cellular data**.
3. Select **add eSIM**.
4. Select the option to scan the eSIM QR code.
5. Scan with your device QR code that you have received from the Monogoto team.

6. If asked for a confirmation code, please enter the code that you have received from the Monogoto team.
7. If asked, assign a name for your added eSIM.

### eSIM Activation via SM-DP+ address

1. Go to your device settings.
2. Search for something like **SIM settings** or **Cellular data**.
3. Select **add eSIM**.
4. Select the option to enter eSIM details manually.
5. Enter the eSIM information (**SM-DP+ address**, **Activation Code** and **Confirmation Code**) that you have received from Monogoto team.&#x20;
6. If asked, assign a name for your added eSIM.

## What is ICCID and where to find it?

ICCID stands for Integrated Circuit Card ID. This is a globally unique identification number for the SIM itself. ICCID number consists of 19 or 20 digits. ### Checking ICCID of eSIM in your used device

1. Go to your device settings.
2. Search for something like **About** or **General information**.
3. Scroll down and you should see your eSIM information including the ICCID number.

### Checking ICCID of eSIM in iPhone

1. Please open **Settings** in your iPhone.
2. Select **General**.
3. Select **About**.
4. Scroll down to the very bottom and you should see your eSIM information

### Checking ICCID of eSIM in Android phone

1. Please open **Settings** in your Android phone.
2. Next please go to **About phone**.
3. Then select **All specs**.
4. Select **Status**.
5. Select **Monogoto eSIM**.
6. Check the eSIM information
